Scaredy Pup
Last night we had some wicked storms. It was fantastic because we needed the rain and the ferocity of the storm was a blast to watch. All the while Casey and I were fascinated with what was happening around us, Ollie (our "brave" lil' pup) was running back and forth, trying in vain to huddle us together. This storm was seriously messing with his brain.
I knew he needed some "protection" so I plopped myself down in my chair and he anxiously climbed into my lap. Here we begin the human = ton-ton again. At one point I had some trouble breathing b/c his 45lb frame gained another 20lbs as he pushed himself into my stomach.
The best was when I had to answer nature's call. Normally he'll wait for me outside of the bathroom. Last night he followed me in, shaking like a leaf, and tried to sit on my feet as his feet continued to slide out from underneath. Then I thought he was going to burst when he realized I wasn't done and I began brushing my teeth. That dog circled himself about 20 times, giving me these this-is-life-or-death looks, throwing additional looks towards casey's way, as the thunder continued to boom overhead.
The storm eventually ended about an hour later, but an hour too late. The damage to Ollie's psyche was done. He ended up sleeping with us THE ENTIRE NIGHT!! I had no idea he was still on the bed until I woke up, completely cramped from sleeping in a semi-fetal position, and saw him all snug at our feet. At the time of my leaving the house this morning, he was still in the bedroom, refusing to go outside or eat.
I am amazed he even made it through the night! How on earth would he deal with this if we weren't home? I'm almost too afraid to find out.
