Pregnancy Update... #2?

Ok. So I've been pretty bad about posting. I've just been busy... or extremely unmotivated to write. Actually, there are several posts in my "saved" folder. The trouble is that I get 1/2 way through writing one, lose my concentration and then hope to complete the post at some point in time in the future, which we all know is just never going to happen. Guess I'd just rather study or work on leveling up my Undead Rogue. *No worries. My Night Elf Druid still exists. I just need a bit of variety*

Hmm. The updates. Well, we're most definitely having a girl. I know, I know. The boy had already told me to "Let it go. It's a girl" after the first sonogram back in January. But I was only 18 weeks pregnant and those 3 lines could have meant/been anything. So at my ultrasound last Tuesday the OB confirmed that we're having a girl. I'm alright with it all and am looking forward to the tumbles and cartwheels and letting her paint daddy's fingernails pink. :^)

Apparently baby girl is also measuring 1 week and 4 days ahead of schedule. Does this mean she might come out over Memorial Day weekend? Or I'm going to deliver a big baby come 5 June? Guess we'll see (although delivering a bigger than normal baby doesn't appeal to me as much as delivering a week early).

On a physical note: her kicking freaked me out at first. Mainly because for about a month I really thought they were gas pains and I had imagined this ogre gas monster building up inside of me, only to be delivered with baby-girl. Then finally hubby felt what I was feeling, turned to me and said "That isn't gas. That's her kicking!" Very good news because I was beginning to fear that gas monster and was trying to find ways of making it stop pushing against my other organs.

So based on her kicking schedule, I'm thinking she's going to be born at night and be a night person like her daddy. Guess that means I get to sleep at night. YAY!!!

The fun part about this kicking is actually getting her to kick. During the day she's rather quiet until I put my hands on my tummy. Then it's "Do you feel me? Do you see me? I'm right here? Feel that? Great! Here I am. And Here. And Here. And Here." Cracks me up. Now the really eerie part is that I can feel the outline of her leg when it's pressed against my belly, which means we can see it too. I guess it's b/c I'm thin-skinned and sorta skinny in my torso region? Dunno. Just didn't think you could see that kind of stuff til late 3rd trimester. Sometimes I'll just stop and watch her little legs get all kung-fu like on my uterus. Freaky and yet so mesmerizing.

So there's this other aspect to pregnancy that involves hormones, and emotions and how certain situations or events or images could set me off on a good crying spree. Recently, I've become extremely sensitive to animals -- particularly baby animals. For example, the other night we turn on the t.v. where a commercial for the WSPA is playing. Heartbreaking images of abandoned baby chimps, malnourished ponies, lots of homeless dogs and cats confined in small cages are displayed. This commercial was relentless. Within 30 seconds I was in tears. Crying rivers!! And doing everything in my power from not adopting them all. Then several days later, in our Bradley method class, we were watching one of our many birthing videos. The class was oogling over the newborn humans. Not me. I was ga-ga over the newborn pony that had pushed itself up and started walking next to mamma. OH. HOW. CUTE! WALK LITTLE PONY... WALK!!! Needless to say, it's a good thing we're limited in our living space because I could easily go out and adopt every animal in need. Poor animals.

As a final update to this bambling post: we're currently in the middle of converting our guest bedroom into the babies room. All 4 walls and closet have been painted. We only have the moldings to finish and if we stick to the schedule, we'll have that room completed by Saturday night. The room is looking really good too. As for our guest room, need not fear. We're combining it with the study. The man knows his spatial relationships because he had worked everything out. Needless to say, you'll probably hear us asking--in the very near future--if anyone is in need of a computer desk.

Ok.. concentration is coming to a halt. Brain power is depleting. I'll try and be better about the posts as the due date approaches and definitely after baby-girl is born.
